Freezing Temperatures and Pool Equipment

Pumps and filtration systems can fracture and crack when exposed to extremely cold temperatures, leading to expensive repairs. Damaged equipment can impact the following:

  • Energy Efficiency: Small cracks may not be noticeable at first, but they may grow over time and create leaks, causing the pump to work harder and less efficiently.
  • Pool Activities: Damages caused by freezing temperatures can take the pool out of action due to needed repairs or replacements.
  • Water Health: Pool safety doesn’t just apply to activities in and around the water but also to the health and efficiency of the pool’s equipment.

The good news is that you can protect your pool equipment from freezing temperatures by installing the IntelliConnect® Control and Monitoring System. The IntelliConnect controls up to five pool devices and has available freeze protection functionality.

Freeze protection is activated by sliding the "Freeze Protection Mode" toggle to the ON position within the Link2O™ Technology App.

The IntelliConnect uses data from AccuWeather® weather service and updates hourly. If the outdoor temperature drops below the temperature set within the app, your IntelliConnect, with freeze protection turned on, can automatically turn on your pump to a preset speed, giving you added peace of mind throughout the winter.

To upgrade your pool to include the IntelliConnect Control and Monitoring System, find a local pool professional near you today.
